Going the extra mile for IA

02 January 2024

Ileostomy and Internal Pouch Association (IA) tells readers about the incredible support it receives from its members and the vital difference this makes

At Ileostomy and Internal Pouch Association (IA), we simply couldn’t do what we do without our amazing supporters, who know how to put the fun into fundraising. From cake sales to quiz nights and everything in between, they do our community proud!

As the national charity for people living with an ileostomy or internal pouch, we receive no government funding, which means we rely on membership, fundraising, donations and legacies to continue our vital services, supporting people from diagnosis to surgery, recovery and beyond, so they can have active, fulfilling lives.
Life with a stoma or internal pouch does not need to hold you back – far from it! Our supporters who go the extra mile by taking on a big physical challenge to raise sponsorship for IA are living proof. Whether it’s competing in an epic Tough Mudder or going all out at the London Marathon, with every step they not only raise funds for our charity, they inspire others to reach for their own goals, whatever they may be.

We’re delighted to have runners signed up for next April’s London Landmarks Half Marathon in aid of IA. They’ll be taking in the big city’s iconic landmarks and soaking up centuries of history as they race through the streets doing something special to make a positive difference for others. If you’d like to join them, we’d love to have you on-board! Simply get in touch at marketing@iasupport.org

Everyone who kindly fundraises for IA can rest assured we put their funds to good use, whether it’s to support leading research into better medical treatment for people with ileostomies or internal pouches or to help us train more of our fantastic One2One support volunteers, who do so much to help people who might be struggling to adapt to their ‘new normal’.

It is thanks to our super supporters that IA continues to be a lifeline to so many. If you’d like to get involved, please get in touch. We’ll send you an IA running shirt, plus leaflets and posters to help encourage people to sponsor your event.
